In order to install pytiff, you need to have a working python installation.
python setup.py install will build and install pytiff.

There is some documentation for pytiff in pytiff.html .

There is a unit test package for pytiff in test_pytiff.py which uses the
test images in the testimages subdirectory.

Have fun!
